Upgrade Software On Mac 2012

Apple released MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) Software Update 1.0 this week. These are the updated 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models that were announced on Monday when Apple also released MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The update includes minor stability and performance improvements for the devices.

Apple’s sparse patch notes say simply, “The update includes fixes that improve graphics stability, external display support, and USB 3 device support.”

For those who already have one of the new laptops, the update should show up in Software Update. You can also download it directly from Apple’s Downloads site as a 1.06GB download.

If you're using one of these computers with OS X Mavericks or later, you can install macOS Catalina. Your Mac also needs at least 4GB of memory and 12.5GB of available storage space, or up to 18.5GB of storage space when upgrading from OS X Yosemite or earlier.
